The days rolled by quietly. Susan still heard from Richard once in a while, his messages were always gentle and thoughtful, never demanding. He would send short verses or encouraging words like “You are loved by God” or “Don’t give up on yourself.” Each time she read them, something stirred inside her.

At night, when the city lights blinked against her window and the streets called her name, she would pause for a moment and think. Richard’s voice echoed softly in her mind, but then she would shake her head and remind herself, “I have to survive. No one will feed me if I don’t.”

It became a battle within her, peace on one side, survival on the other.

Meanwhile, in his office at work, Richard sat across from Charles one afternoon. They were going over a few business plans, but Richard’s thoughts kept drifting. Finally, he sighed and leaned back in his chair.

“Charles,” he said quietly, “I’ve been communicating with Susan.”

Charles looked up, raising a brow. “Susan? The same girl from that weekend?”

“Yes,” Richard replied. “I believe God wants to save her. I’m praying for her soul.”

Charles chuckled and shook his head. “You want to save an olosho? A runs girl? Richard, you’re too deep, my guy.” He laughed again, though there was no malice, just disbelief.

“Don’t waste your time. People like her don’t change. You’ll only stress yourself for nothing.”

Richard’s expression remained calm. “Charles, no soul is beyond saving. Even we were once lost.”

Charles smirked. “Maybe, but not that lost.”

Richard smiled faintly, choosing silence over argument. He had learned that conviction didn’t need to be defended, it just needed to be lived.

As Charles walked out later, still amused, Richard bowed his head at his desk and whispered a quiet prayer for both Susan and his friend. He knew the road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but grace, he believed, always had the final say.
