Richard was at work, reviewing a project proposal on his computer when his phone began to ring. Glancing at the screen, his brow lifted slightly...Susan. For a moment, he hesitated before picking up.
“Hello, Susan?” his voice was calm, yet curious.
“Good afternoon, Richard,” she began softly, trying to steady her breathing. “I’m sorry for calling you like this, I just… I didn’t know who else to talk to.”
“It’s alright,” he said kindly. “How are you doing?”
“I don’t even know,” she admitted with a shaky laugh. “Richard, something strange has been happening to me since that night you prayed for me. I keep seeing these dreams, the same one, over and over again.”
Richard leaned back in his chair, his tone gentle. “What kind of dream?”
Susan took a deep breath. “I see myself in a wedding dress. I look happy, peaceful… but I can’t see the face of the man beside me. He feels familiar, but his face is always covered in light.
It started the night after you prayed for me.” She paused, her voice trembling. “At first, I didn’t think much of it, but it keeps happening. And now I’m scared, Richard. I’ve heard stories about women having spirit husbands. Maybe that’s what’s happening to me.”
Richard closed his eyes for a brief moment, quietly understanding what the dream truly meant, yet careful not to say too much. “Susan, don’t be afraid,” he said calmly. “That’s not what it is. Sometimes, dreams come as messages of hope, not harm.”
“But Richard,” she pressed, her voice breaking, “I feel like I need deliverance. Maybe prayer will help me. I just don’t want to go back to the church after everything that happened.”
Richard hesitated for a moment, then spoke softly, “Alright, Susan. If you’re not comfortable coming to church, can I come to your house instead? We can pray there.”
Susan was silent. “Richard, my house isn’t a place someone like you should come to,” she said at last. “I don’t want you to see it.”
“It doesn’t matter where it is,” he replied gently. “If you’ll let me come, we’ll pray together.” There was a long pause before she finally whispered, “Okay, you can come.”
Richard ended the call slowly, his heart pounding, not out of fear but out of something deeper, a sense that what awaited him was more than just another visit.
