The new week came with a bright note for Susan. After days of waiting and worrying, she finally received the message she had been praying for “Congratulations! Your registration for the Fashion Academy Training has been confirmed.”

The words on her phone screen made her heart leap. She screamed out of excitement and hugged her phone tightly to her chest. It felt like a new chapter was finally opening.

Without thinking twice, she forwarded the message to Richard. Within a few minutes, his reply came through: “Congratulations, Susan. I’m proud of you. This is the beginning of something great. Make the best of it.”

Her smile deepened as she read his words. Somehow, his encouragement always came with warmth that stayed long after the message ended.

In the days that followed, Susan prepared for her training. She packed her things carefully since she would be staying in the academy hostel for the full six months. Her mother, though a bit emotional to see her go, was very proud of the progress her daughter was making.

Once the training started, Susan made it a habit to share updates with Richard. She would send him short messages about her classes, the new sewing techniques she was learning, and how demanding but exciting the program was.

Sometimes she would send him pictures of the dresses she made, and each time Richard saw them, he was deeply impressed.

“Wow, Susan, this is beautiful,” he once replied to one of her photos. “You’ve got real talent. Keep this up, and the world will soon hear your name.”

She would blush each time she read his responses, feeling a strange joy she couldn’t fully explain.

There were also days when she would send him short voice notes instead of text messages, tired from a long day but still eager to tell him about it.

Richard always saved those voice notes. He’d play them late at night, listening to her voice, soft, lively, and sometimes teasing. It wasn’t just what she said that touched him, but how she said it. There was a warmth in her tone that always found its way to his heart.

On his part, Richard noticed that he looked forward to her messages more than he should. Whenever his phone buzzed, and her name appeared on the screen, he felt an involuntary smile.

He kept telling himself it was just friendship, that he was only being supportive but deep down, he knew there was something growing quietly between them.
