From that day on, "Good morning" became a tradition.

Every morning, Amanda was the first to send a message.

Every night, David was the last person she spoke to before going to bed.

Days passed, and their conversations became longer.

They talked about music, food, childhood memories, and their biggest dreams.

Amanda was in her final year studying Accounting.

David worked as a customer service representative for a logistics company.

One evening, David stopped by Crown Supermarket after work as usual.

As he picked up a loaf of bread and his favorite coffee, his phone buzzed.

Amanda: Guess what?

He smiled.

David: Let me guess... you finally won the lottery?

Amanda: 😂 I wish!

David: Then tell me.

Amanda: I submitted my final project today.

David: That's amazing. Congratulations!

Amanda: Thank you. I was so nervous.

David paid for his groceries and walked home, still chatting with her.

Neither of them realized they had probably been just a few meters apart.

Later that night, Amanda lay on her bed while Chioma scrolled through social media.

"You've been smiling at that phone all week," Chioma teased.

Amanda laughed.

"It's not what you think."

"It never is."

Amanda sighed.

"He's actually a nice person."

"Have you seen his picture?"

"No."

"Video called?"

Amanda shook her head.

"No."

Chioma looked surprised.

"So you're becoming friends with someone you've never seen?"

Amanda smiled softly.

"Sometimes, getting to know someone's heart is better than judging their face first."

Chioma nodded.

"I hope he turns out to be exactly who you think he is."

Amanda looked down at her phone.

"So do I."

That same night, David sat on the balcony outside his apartment.

The cool breeze brushed against his face.

His phone vibrated again.

Amanda: Can I ask you something?

David: You always say that before asking serious questions.

She replied with a laughing emoji.

Then her next message appeared.

Amanda: What's your biggest fear?

David stared at the screen.

After a few moments, he typed.

David: Losing people I care about.

Amanda read the message twice.

She took a deep breath before replying.

Amanda: Mine is trusting the wrong person.

David frowned.

He wanted to ask what had happened.

Instead, he simply wrote,

David: Whoever hurt you lost someone special.

Amanda didn't respond immediately.

When she finally did, her reply was just one word.

Amanda: Maybe.

David knew there was a story behind that answer.

He also knew she wasn't ready to tell it.

As he placed his phone beside him, he smiled.

Amanda was no longer just the girl who had texted the wrong number.

She had become someone he looked forward to hearing from every single day.
