Chapter 12: The Right Number

Six Months Later

Life had changed in ways neither David nor Amanda could have imagined.

Amanda had graduated from the university and recently started her internship at an accounting firm.

David had received a promotion at work after months of dedication.

Despite their busy schedules, one thing never changed.

They always made time for each other.

On a bright Saturday afternoon, David stood outside Blue Bean Café—the same café where they had met for the first time.

His phone buzzed.

Amanda: I'm two minutes away. Don't complain. 😂

David smiled.

David: I've been waiting for years.

Amanda: Drama king.

A minute later, Amanda appeared, shaking her head with a smile.

"You started lying now?"

"I prefer the word 'exaggerating,'" David replied.

She laughed.

"You haven't changed."

"I hope I never do."

Inside the café, they settled into the same seats by the window.

As they waited for their drinks, Amanda rested her chin on her hand.

"Can I ask you something?"

David laughed.

"There it is again."

"What?"

"Every serious conversation starts with those five words."

Amanda smiled.

"Fine. One last time."

She looked at him.

"Do you still have the first message I sent you?"

Without saying a word, David unlocked his phone.

He opened their very first conversation.

Amanda covered her face as she read it.

Baby, I'm outside your hostel. Please come out before your roommate sees me.

"Oh, please!" she groaned, laughing. "I'll never escape this embarrassment."

"I hope not," David teased.

"Why?"

"Because if you had sent it to the right number..."

He looked into her eyes.

"...I might never have met the woman I love."

Amanda smiled, her eyes shining.

She reached across the table and held his hand.

"And if you had ignored that message..."

"...I would've missed the greatest blessing of my life."

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

They didn't need to.

Sometimes silence says everything.

Outside the café, people hurried past, each carrying dreams, worries, and stories of their own.

Inside, two people sat smiling at each other...

Connected by a mistake that had become a miracle.

Sometimes life doesn't go according to plan.

Sometimes the wrong turn, the wrong timing, or even the wrong number...

Leads you exactly where you're meant to be.

The End.
