CHAPTER FOUR

The Girl Who Wants His Attention

Westview High had its queens.

And Mira Coleman was one of them.

Mira was beautiful, confident, and very popular. She walked through the school hallways like she owned them. Students either wanted to be her friend or stayed far away from her.

Behind her usually walked her two closest friends — girls who followed her like loyal supporters. They were not troublemakers, just students who enjoyed being close to popularity.

Today, Mira was not smiling.

Because she had seen something she didn’t like.

Leonard sitting with Aurora in the library.

Mira stood near the classroom window with her two friends beside her.

“That new girl is acting too innocent,” one of her friends said.

“She’s just quiet,” Mira replied coldly. “Quiet girls usually hide things.”

Mira had known Leonard for a long time.

Not romantically — at least not officially.

But she wanted his attention.

Leonard didn’t date easily. He didn’t waste time on shallow relationships. That made him even more attractive to people like Mira.

So when she saw him talking to Aurora…

She didn’t like it.

Later that day, Aurora was walking down the hallway after class.

She wanted to go home, finish her homework, and spend the evening drawing quietly. That was her favorite routine.

But someone stepped in front of her.

“Hey.”

Aurora stopped immediately.

Mira was standing in front of her with her two friends beside her.

Aurora immediately felt nervous. She knew who Mira was. Everyone did.

“Yes?” Aurora said softly.

Mira looked at her slowly, studying her like she was trying to solve a puzzle.

“You’re Aurora, right?”

“Yes.”

Mira smiled — but it was not a friendly smile.

“I just wanted to tell you something,” Mira said slowly. “Leonard doesn’t usually stay interested in quiet girls.”

Aurora didn’t respond.

She just listened.

“He gets bored easily,” Mira continued. “Parties. Racing. His lifestyle is fast. Girls who are too quiet usually can’t keep up with him.”

Aurora felt her fingers tighten slightly around her bag strap.

“I’m not trying to date him,” Aurora said quietly.

Mira’s smile tightened.

“Good,” Mira said. “Because people like Leonard are not safe to get close to.”

Then Mira and her two friends walked away.

Aurora stood there quietly for a long moment.

She didn’t like confrontation.

But she also didn’t like being judged by someone who didn’t know her.

That evening.

Leonard was at an underground parking garage with The Iron Wolves.

Music played softly.

His friends were leaning against expensive sports cars, talking and joking quietly.

Then one of them spoke.

“Someone warned Aurora about you today.”

Leonard looked up slowly.

“Oh?”

“Mira,” his friend said.

Leonard’s expression darkened slightly.

“She told Aurora to stay away from you.”

Leonard stayed quiet for a moment.

Then he smirked faintly.

“She shouldn’t waste time warning Aurora,” he said calmly.

“Why?”

“Because Aurora isn’t scared of me.”

And that was what interested Leonard the most.

Not fear.

Honesty.

Back at home, Aurora sat by her window, sketching again.

Without knowing why —

She drew a fast sports car moving through city lights.

At the corner of the page, she wrote two words.

Dangerous Hearts.

Because deep inside, she already knew something was starting.

And it would not stay quiet for long.
