Growing up in the rural hinterlands of Eastern Nigeria, every child knew the tale of a ghost guarding the sweetest udara trees. This is one such tale, a haunting memory from the days of a simple rural childhood.
MBEM ISHI is a gripping tale of greed, betrayal, slavery, vengeance, courage, and spiritual reckoning, set against the rich cultural landscape of precolonial southeastern Nigeria. At its heart is a haunting question: When blood demands blood, where does justice end and vengeance begin?
