THE RELIGIOUS BATTLE
By Beig Jawnson
I was sitting on the balcony of our house when I heard the familiar, piercing voice shouting:
"REPENT! YE FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND!"
It was the voice of the usual white-garmented Prophet. As he shouted REPEEEEENT!, he rang his bell with fervor.
Meanwhile, a group of Masqueraders marched in the opposite direction, singing their songs and dancing with rhythmic energy.
As they passed, the Prophet’s voice intensified, booming across the street:
"REPEEEEENT! REPEEEEEEENT!! REPEEEEEEEEENT!!! OH YOU GENERATION OF IDOLATERS AND VIPERS!!!!"
The Leader of the Masqueraders, enraged, confronted the Prophet.
And that was when the battle began.
The Prophet stood boldly, unafraid, and told the Leader:
"You are too small for me to handle."
This statement only fueled the Leader’s fury. He drew a talisman, waving it through the air as he chanted spells. Then, with all his might, he flogged the Prophet, hoping to bring him down.
But the Prophet did not fall. Instead, he laughed—a deep, unsettling laugh.
In the midst of his laughter, he dropped his bell and his Bible, and tugged at his white garment. Curious, I called everyone in the house to the balcony to witness what was happening.
As the Prophet pulled his outer garment aside, a shocking sight was revealed: underneath, he was filled with charms and talismans. Without chanting a single word, he pulled one talisman and struck the Leader of the Masqueraders.
Instantly, the Leader fell to the ground, writhing violently. His body erupted with leprosy, helpless and defeated.
Terrified, the Masqueraders and the crowd on the streets fled in every direction, screaming for their lives.
The Prophet, still laughing wickedly, picked up his bell, his Bible, and his garment. His eyes scanned the terrified crowd as if savoring the chaos.
Before anyone could even say "Jack Robinson," the Prophet vanished.
Note: Not all who call themselves Prophets are sent by God. Many are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Beware!
